Best 2011 Coolmore Classic Betting Tips & Odds

March 17th, 2011

The $600,000 Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) is the marquee race on the Rosehill programme for this Saturday March 19 and here we have the best 2011 Coolmore Classic betting tips.

One of nine quality horse racing events set to take place for Coolmore Classic Day, the official opening race meet of the Golden Slipper Stakes Carnival, the 2011 Coolmore Classic final field features 17 top fillies and mares.

Leading the early Coolmore Classic betting markets at Luxbet is the Mick Price-trained Aloha at a quote of $5 to Win.

The Encosta De Lago four-year-old is coming off a first-up win in the Group 3 PFD Food Services Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on March 5, where Aloha easily defeated Flying Tessie by two lengths.

Before that during her last prep Aloha won five of her seven spring / summer starts, her consistent record the reason for her favouritism on Saturday despite having drawn wide with barrier 10.

The depth of this year’s Coolmore Classic field, however, means that there is no standout favourite with the punters and currently Luxbet have four other runners at single-figure odds for an upset.

But it is a double figure roughie and market mover that we are tipping to become the Coolmore Classic winner on Saturday – see below.

Coolmore Classic Best Betting Tips – Rosehill Race 7

Punters Favourite: #7 Aloha – $5 Luxbet

Has the consistency and solid record to earn her some fans, but don’t rate against this field in a Group 1 at Rosehill.

Our Pick to Win: #4 Graceful Anna – $12 into $10 Luxbet

Now is the time to bet on Graceful Anna to win the Coolmore as she is the first horse to firm in the betting markets. Overpriced with her double-figure odds considering at her last three starts she has finished runner-up to More Joyous in the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m), to Montana Flyer in the Group 3 Millie Fox Quality (1300m) and to Triple Elegance in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m). Is ready for a Group 1 win from her ideal barrier five draw.

Runner-Up Is: #3 Palacio De Cristal – Back in Quinella with Graceful Anna at Luxbet

Last year’s third placegetter behind Once Were Wild, will come closer this time round.

Third Place Goes To: #15 Happy Hippy – Nice $5.25 price to Place through Luxbet

Adds great value to the winning Trifecta as an $18 roughie, well-bred Shamardal mare has a big run in her as the 1500m suits.

Add into Exotics / First Four Bets: #1 Melito

A dual Group 1 winner, class should see her finish close to the money.

Best Roughie for an Upset: #16 Warpath

52kg light-weight, drawn ideally in barrier four, coming off a last-start victory in the Listed Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Warwick Farm last weekend, which was her fourth win on the trot. Big step up in class but don’t discount.

The 2011 Coolmore Classic is programmed as Rosehill Race 7 on Saturday, due to jump at 4:10pm (AEDST).
