Lucia Valentina will make her racing return in the 2016 Coolmore Classic and while allocated a good draw in barrier 7, has been confirmed to carry a race-high 58kgs.

A two-time Group 1 winner, Lucia Valentina returned in spring for sixth in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m); progressing to fourth in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) before mid-pack finishes in each of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m).

Ending her Australian spring campaign with success in the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m), the Savabeel mare travelled abroad for an impressive sixth in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin on December 13th.

Having trialled well in the lead-up to the Coolmore Classic, Lucia Valentina has been confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop James McDonald.

While yet to be trialled at the grade, Ghisoni is yet to taste anything but success through a short but impressive racing career and will be tough to beat in the Coolmore Classic with only 50kgs in tow.

Winning a pair of Sydney minors through a short debut preparation in late spring, the Lonhro filly resumed this time for a dominant win in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) and should track well into the race from barrier 8.

Azkadellia carries strong form into the 2016 Coolmore Classic, will be partnered by Hong Kong-based hoop Brett Prebble and will leave from the ideal barrier 4.

Winning a Cranbourne minor over 1400m upon resuming in spring, Azkadellia ran second in the Group 3 Tesio Stakes (1600m) before placing an impressive third in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m).

Resuming this time for second in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m), the Shinko King mare charged home to win the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago.

Politeness is a proven performer at the class and distance but will undoubtedly require luck in running in the 2016 Coolmore Classic after drawing the outside barrier 13.

Capping a standout spring campaign with success in the Myer Classic and a close second to Turn Me Loose in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m), Politeness resumed this time for second in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) on February 13th.

While failing to fire and seventh in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago, Politeness will relish a return to fillies and mares’ company on Saturday.

Solicit’s chances of a maiden Group 1 win have taken a boost in her allocation of barrier 6, while Peeping will need luck from barrier 8.
