Peeping left as a $16 chance in the Coolmore Classic this afternoon but did he chances of success no harm when jumping well and settling in prime position within the field as Solicit, Ghisoni and Vergara set the early pace.

Rounding onto the final straight with plenty to do, jockey Sam Clipperton allowed the mare plenty of time to balance before asking for an extra effort and was rewarded for his decision when Peeping mustered a huge turn of foot to savage the line ahead of Azkadellia and Solicit.

Trainer Ron Quinton was confident Peeping would run at her best at Rosehill Gardens but was understandably thrilled she posted her maiden win at the highest level in the 2016 Coolmore Classic.

“If you’re going to take 1500m on, Rosehill is the place because she loves Rosehill,” Quinton said.

“It was a beautiful ride and reminded me of some of mine!

“I’m never confident until they go past that bloody winning post in front, but I’m very proud – it’s Sam’s first Group 1 and it’s for me.”

Sam Clipperton also claimed his first Group 1 win in the 2016 Coolmore Classic but was quick to lay all the praise on the class of Peeping and the training efforts of Quinton.

“It’s pretty cool, I’m speechless,” Clipperton said after dismounting.

“Everything panned out perfectly. I was able to slide in three pairs back and one off the fence.

“600 out they really hit a tempo and she just hit a bit of a flat spot but when I pulled her out and she switched leads, I was confident at the 300m.

“She was probably getting a bit tired in the last 50m but she kept challenging hard and I just don’t know what to say.

“I just can’t thank Ron and his owners enough, it’s a bit of a fairytale for me to ride my first Group 1 winner for Ron, so it’s a day I’ll never forget.”

In taking out the 2016 Coolmore Classic, Peeping has now posted a commendable six wins and five minors through only fourteen career starts.
