2017 Coolmore Classic Next for Silent Sedition

February 27th, 2017

Trainer Andrew Noblet has confirmed that Silent Sedition will take her place in the 2017 Coolmore Classic field after she produced a gutsy performance to take out the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield over the weekend.

Silent Sedition has been a standout performer for Noblet through her entire racing career so far and will carry an impressive race record of five wins and eight minors through only fourteen appearances into the Coolmore Classic 2017.

Silent Sedition was led to the fore of the field in the Mannerism Stakes by jockey Craig Williams; setting a fair tempo in transit before mustering an impressive kick in the final straight to find the line close to a length in the clear of Thames Court; multiple stakes winner Miss Rose De Lago a further length away in third.

Noblet conceded that he was surprised to see the War Chant mare on pace, but believes that the gutsy performance suggests that the mare is more than capable of mixing it with what is set to be a classy Coolmore Classic field on March 11th.

“I was surprised to see her lead but I left it up to Craig,” Noblet told Racing Victoria.

“I thought she’d be settling two lengths off the pace but she jumped so well and Craig summed it up.

“She was the one to beat and it turned out like that.”

Silent Sedition returned to racing in 2016 for a smart win in a Cranbourne minor over 1200m on March 4th, before breaking through for a maiden black type win in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m) a fortnight later.

Running second to Bengal Cat in the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap (1600m), Silent Sedition returned to winning form in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) before ending her autumn campaign a close second to Abbey Marie in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m).

Resuming in spring for second in the Group 3 Cape Grim Beef Steaks (1200m), the mare out of Fiorentina progressed to third in the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) before ending her year with a smart win in the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m).

Trialling well in the lead-up to her 2017 campaign, Silent Sedition ran on for second behind Prussian Vixen in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) on February 11th, in what was her only other start prior to the Mannerism Stakes.
